Equity & Justice/Y-Justice
In order to truly eliminate racism and bias, we must first realize that racism is real.
68% of Americans believe racism is a problem in education and 70% of Americans believe racism is a problem in the workplace.
Racism is real and it affects all of us regardless of what we look like. The elimination of racism is an ongoing process that requires persistence, commitment and continuing dialogue between individuals and groups. The YWCA is committed to helping individuals, organizations and companies in Palm Beach County improve race relations and find ways to eliminate racism through constructive dialogue and meaningful action.
CommUNITY Conversations
Knowing that changing deep-seated beliefs and attitudes towards race and/or gender goes beyond a presentation, the YWCA launched CommUNITY Conversations. CommUNITY Conversations are designed to open dialogue around race, prejudice, and genderism...all issues that have the potential to poison and divide our community. Each "ism" is addressed separately as they each have their own set of issues and impact in the community. Incorporating current topics challenging our community, we facilitate talks that generate action to bring about real change. Participants are encouraged to attend the full cycle of CommUNITY Conversations in order to begin to modify their attitudes toward race and gender inequality.
