Dr. Mary C. Cauthen

Remembering Dr. Mary Cauthen

It is with a heavy heart and tears of sadness we share that Dr. Mary C. Cauthen our Chief Program Officer passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Dr. Mary was a beloved friend and colleague and will always be remembered. Dr. Mary had been a part of the organization since 2002. Her dedication to the company, positive attitude, and leadership of the organization are some reasons for the YWCA of Palm Beach County's success in achieving our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

Our beloved Dr. Cauthen held every position within the domestic violence programs over the past 18 years. She had been Chief Program Officer since February 2019, and was the Director of Domestic Abuse Programs at the YWCA for the 13 years prior. She provided services to well over 8,000 victims of domestic violence and provided training to professionals throughout Palm Beach County.

She received numerous awards that emphasized her dedication to fighting domestic violence and empowering women such as The Barry Krischer Humanitarian Award for outstanding services to victims of domestic violence in 2017; and a nomination for the Victim Advocate of the Year Award with the Attorney General of The State of Florida in 2018.
