A Legacy 100 Years in the Making
The color persimmon has long been an iconic representation of the YWCA movement. Strong, bright, and bold, persimmon accurately represents our centuries-old mission to eliminate racism and empower women and to improve the lives of women and girls. You can leave a legacy that ensures that our mission continues for centuries to come by joining the Persimmon Society.
To become a member of the exclusive Persimmon Society, one must make a planned gift to the YWCA of Palm Beach County. Your participation in the Persimmon Society not only strongly and boldly demonstrates your belief in the YWCA’s mission, but it also reinforces your commitment to making a positive impact in our community. You may make an estate gift to the YWCA of Palm Beach County in many ways, including:
Life Insurance: You may designate the YWCA of Palm Beach County as the sole or partial beneficiary of your life insurance policy. The amount you pay for the life insurance premium may be tax deductible. We recommend consulting with your tax advisor to be certain of the benefits to you.
Bequest in your will: You may leave a gift of a house, cash, real property or investment assets to the YWCA of Palm Beach County through a will or trust. You may also designate the YWCA of Palm Beach County as the sole or partial beneficiary of your life insurance or your IRA. You may elect to bequeath a set amount or a percentage of your remaining assets once you pass away.
The benefit to you by remembering the YWCA in your will, asside from resting eternally knowing that the good work of the YWCA will continue, is that you can continue to use the assets while you’re still with us.
Charitable Gift Annuities: You may leave the YWCA of Palm Beach County a gift of cash or stock in return for fixed payments you as the donor for life. Then, upon passing, the remainder is distributed to the YWCA as your designated charity. With a Charitable Gift Annuity, assets are excluded from the estate you plan to leave your family.
The benefit to you by leaving us a Charitable Gift Annuity is that you have the security of a fixed income for life; knowledge it is guaranteed to the YWCA of Palm Beach County once you pass, and you may claim a charitable gift deduction the year you plan the gift.
Charitable Remainder Trust: A gift of cash, stocks, real estate, or complex assets in return for variable payments to you. Variable payments are generally a percentage of the total value of the gift. Upon passing, the remainder is distributed to the YWCA of Palm Beach County. With a Charitable Remainder Trust, you may make additional contributions over time.
By bestowing the YWCA of Palm Beach County with a Charitable Remainder Trust, you are able to use the trust to act as a hedge against inflation, and you may avoid capital gains taxes on appreciated assets. This gift may also be considered a charitable deduction in the year you plan the trust. Charitable Remainder Trusts also provide annual income to you that can adjust over time. The best way to plan this is to speak with your financial advisor.
For all of these planned giving options, you may also secure additional tax benefits. We encourage you to contact your financial planning professional for guidance on what type of gift is best for your situation. You may schedule a meeting with our CEO to discuss planned giving options by calling 561-640-0050, ext. 137. During this meeting, you may also learn more about directing your planned gift to one of the YWCA’s high-impact programs aimed at improving the lives of women and girls.
