Events & News

YWCA’s Until Justice Just Is (UJJI) is a national movement advancing justice for all. During the month of April 2025, YWCAs across the United States will be hosting a series of events to help raise awareness and to promote justice within our local communities.

This year's theme will be "A Celebration of Women in Leadership". This event is a unique opportunity to celebrate, recognize, support, and empower women in leadership roles across different industries. This event brings together community leaders, activists, and professionals to support current Leaders and inspire the next generation of Women In Leadership.

In addition to recognizing and highlighting the many accomplishments of Women In Leadership, we will also be accepting nominations for the Leave A Legacy Award. The Leave A Legacy Award will provide monetary support to a Woman In Leadership and will go directly toward supporting her in her leadership journey. As we build momentum, we hope to make this an annual event where we can provide a sizeable “Leave A Legacy Award” to a deserving Woman in Leadership.

Why Until Justice Just Is – “A Celebration of Women In Leadership”:

Representation-

As of 2024, women make up 51.1% of the U.S. population, and 47% of the U.S. workforce. However, women hold only 29% of senior leadership roles in the largest U.S. companies (e.g., S&P 100 firms), and only 10% of Fortune 500 CEOs (the disparities are even greater for women of color).

 Pay Gap-

As of 2024, women working full-time and year-round are paid an average of 84 cents for every dollar paid to men. In more than 90 percent of occupations, women earn less than men—and these disparities are even greater for women of color and women with disabilities.

 Glass Ceiling-

Women and minorities often face invisible barriers, and greater challenges than men that prevent career advancement despite qualifications or achievements due to stereotypes and biases.

 Glass Cliff-

Women are more likely to be placed in leadership roles during times of crisis, with fewer resources or support, increasing the likelihood of failure.
